Which authority applies?
Sharjah healthcare is mid-transition.
MOHAP has long licensed healthcare facilities and professionals across Sharjah as one of the Northern Emirates. The Sharjah Health Authority (SHA) has separately regulated Sharjah Healthcare City (SHCC) since 2010 — and is now extending SHA licensing to more facilities across the wider emirate. Professionals holding an MOH license may need an SHA Assessment Certificate before their license can be activated or renewed under SHA. We check which authority applies to your specific facility or role before you apply, so you don't start down the wrong portal.

Is healthcare in Sharjah licensed by MOHAP or by SHA?
Both, depending on the facility. MOHAP has traditionally licensed healthcare facilities and professionals across Sharjah as one of the Northern Emirates. The Sharjah Health Authority (SHA) has separately regulated Sharjah Healthcare City since 2010, and is now expanding its licensing role to more facilities across the emirate, so some professionals and facilities are transitioning from MOHAP to SHA jurisdiction.

I already hold an MOH license — do I need anything from SHA?
If the facility you work at is transitioning to SHA jurisdiction, you may need to obtain an SHA Assessment Certificate before your license can be activated or renewed under SHA. We check your specific facility and role against current requirements before you apply.

What is Sharjah Healthcare City (SHCC)?
SHCC is a dedicated medical free zone in Sharjah, regulated directly by the Sharjah Health Authority rather than MOHAP. Facilities and professionals based in SHCC follow SHA's three-stage licensing model: assessment, supervised practice, and full independent license.
